The wine is usually aged for 10 to 15 years in a wine cellar in Grimentz, kept in a series of larch-wood barrels.<\/p>\n<p>The principle of the Vin du Glacier is simple: the barrels are never emptied. Every year, new wine is added to the old; for example, wine in a barrel from 1888 will be blended with one from 1886, and wine made in 1934 will top up the same 1888 barrel, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cVin du Glacier\u201d cannot be bought. It is only served in the cellars of Anniviers, drawn directly from the barrel and can be tasted during a visit to the Bourgeoisie. You can try out this wine steeped in history. The Maison Bourgeoisiale (ancient Community House) is home to the famous Bishop\u2019s Barrel as well as many others. The wine in this larch-wood barrel dates back to 1886.
