Spring skiing in Grimentz – Fresh snow and long days with plenty of sunshine
With 300 days of sunshine a year and the highest slopes in Switzerland, the Valais is the perfect region for the snow sports spring feeling even in the late Easter holidays this year.
Spring shows his first flowers in the valley, but there is still enough snow in the mountains of the Val D’Anniviers, which was refreshed with a thick layer last week.
The big spring trend is the firn skiing. Many ski fans are even waiting for the late season. The secret lies in the changed meteorological conditions. At night a soft layer forms on the solid snow surface a kind of powder snow, that is what skiers call firn. Gliding down the slopes on this layer is like flying – actually even better.
Time has gone by when the sun says goodbye behind the mountain peaks in the early afternoon already. Spring also means that days last longer, so you can enjoy the alpine ambiance in the Aprèsskibar Florioz next to the slopes on it’s terrace even longer. From there it is only a stone’s throw to Les Rahas where the day ends relaxing in a hot tub.
